On April 10, 1998, Lisa Renee (Kain) and Brian Robert McNeill gave birth to their twin sons, Colin Brian and Caleb Kain McNeill at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Caleb attended grade school at Northstar Elementary in Knoxville, Iowa and currently is a junior at Knoxville High School.

His parents are both employed in the Knoxville School system. A brilliant student, Caleb planned to pursue a career in the medical field with an interest in being a doctor.

He also enjoyed extracurricular activities and excelled in the soccer, wrestling and football programs, presently playing linebacker and kicker on the football team. He took great pride in being a Knoxville Panther.

Caleb was a devoted fan of Iowa Hawkeye football and wrestling and was inspired by Dan Gable. In addition, he liked watching the World Cup and following Lionel Messi. Caleb loved animals of all kinds. His pets, Ashley and Hawkeye, were always at the forefront of his thoughts. His radiant smile was always evident around his pets, family and friends.

He enjoyed making people laugh with his effortless wit and he was always willing to help anyone who needed it. His giving spirit and sweet nature touched many people, including his friends and community.

He also shared a special bond with his brothers, Colin and Cade, and loved to travel and go on family vacations.

His other interests included reading and being with friends and family. Caleb was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Knoxville.

Caleb died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, September 10, 2014, at the age of 16 years. His memory will be cherished by his parents, Brian and Lisa McNeill; his brothers, Colin and Cade Brandon McNeill; his maternal grandparents, Marvin and Frances (Brees) Kain; his paternal grandparents, Robert and Arlene (Sparks) McNeill, all of Knoxville; Greg and Lori (Kain) Horstmann of Pleasantville; and five cousins: Cory Horstmann, Haley Horstmann, Nicole Goode, Kyle Ellenwood and Cassie Ellenwood. Caleb was preceded in death by his Aunt Sharon McNeill. He will be truly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held
Monday, September 15, 2014 at 4:00 p.m.
St. Anthony Catholic Church, Knoxville, Iowa
Interment will follow in the Graceland Cemetery at Knoxville, Iowa

A visitation with family present will be held Sunday, September 14, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church followed by a Wake Service at 7:00 p.m.

Memorials in Caleb’s memory will be designated for Colin and Cade McNeill’s college education.
