Paul V. Downing, 70, former Knoxville area resident, died on June 12, 1966 at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames.
Funeral services were held yesterday (Wednesday) from Collegiate Presbyterian Church there with graveside services at 2:20 p.m. at Bethel Cemetery near Tracy.
Downing was born on Oct. 12, 1895, near Knoxville and lived in this area until 1916 when he moved to Des Moines. He had lived in Ames since 1951. He was a World War I veteran and a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors included his wife, Elvira; two daughters, Carolyn Downing of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Mrs. Louise Refsell of Minneapolis, Minn.; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Downing, O’Day.
