Robert John Van Drimmelen Sr., 82, a longtime resident of Jasper County, died April 8 at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Reese Chapel.
The Rev. Philip Friedeman, the pastor of the Congregational United Church of Christ, officiated. Burial was in the Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel; two sons, Robert Jr. of Newton and James A. of Rolling Bay, Wash.; a daughter, Blanche (William) McKee of Gladwyne, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Also, surviving are two brothers, Louis of Bellevue and Paul of Buffalo, N.Y.; and a sister, Mrs. Oscar Rader of Portland, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. Van Drimmelen, a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, had farmed for 25 years until moving to Newton in 1949 where he worked at the Maytag Co. retiring in 1964.
The son of Andrew and Trynie Van Drimmelen, he was born Sept. 4, 1896, in Knoxville and was educated in Knoxville and Pella schools.
He was married to Hazel Sloan on Feb. 9, 1924, in Newton.
