Funeral services for Mrs. H. J. Bonifield, who died at the Methodist hospital, Des
Moines, Dec. 5, 1961 were held from the Evans Arlington chapel, Dec. 8 with Rev. Paul
E. Becker, Des Moines, officiating.
Burial was in Graceland cemetery. Avah Pearl
Karns, daughter of Joseph and Celeste Karns, was born in Knoxville, May 20, 1897.
She was united in marriage to Dr. H. J. Bonifield, May 26, 1920, at Knoxville. She
had been a member of the Methodist church since early childhood and was an active member of Chapter M, PEO, and the Mentor Study club.
Surviving is her husband and two sisters, Mrs. Joy Collins, Knoxville, and Mrs. E. C. James, Creston, Iowa.
