Services for Mary E. Cummings, 87, who died April 2, 1984 at Pella Community Nursing Home, were held April 5 at Bybee and Davis Funeral Home.

Interment Was in Graceland Cemetery.
Rev. K. Wayne Hoehns officiated at the services Music was provided by James Kidder, organist, and John Crawford, soloist.
Pallbearers were Mike Busted, Robert Pitt, Don Synhorst, Randy Cummings, Larry Cummings, Donald Cummings. and Ronald VandenBerg.

Mrs. Cummings was born on Feb. 8, 1897 in Monroe County, the daughter of George and Clara Spencer Sims.

In early life, she taught school.

On Oct 6, 1920 she married Loren Cummings. They farmed near Tracy for five years, then moved to the family farm where they resided for the rest of their lives.

She was a member of the Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one infant son, George William; and two brothers, Leo and, Arthur.

She is survived by two sons, James and Gene, and one daughter, Mrs. Don (Dorothy) VandenBerg, all of Knoxville; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Stella Reed of Mt. Pleasant; and one brother, John, of Knoxville.

A memorial has been established to the Knoxville Senior Citizens Center.
