Donald Charles Steele, 62, 1707 Tacoma Ave., died at 11:10 p.m. Monday, April 1, 1963, in St. Anthony Hospital after a brief illness.
Born Sept. 3, 1900, in Knoxville, Iowa, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Steele. Lived 18 years in Rockford, coming here from Des Moines, Iowa.
Married to the former Gladdis Augspurger in Chicago, on July 3, 1932. Employed as a display man by Sears Roebuck & Co. for 20 years. A veteran of World War I serving overseas.
Survivors include his widow, Gladdis, three daughters, Mrs. A. D. Johnson Jr. and Mrs. Gene Readelle, both of Rockford; and Mrs. Richard C. Lee, Normal, Ill., and six grandchildren.
Graveside services at 2 p.m. Thursday in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax, Ill.
