Loretta was born July 18, 1931 to Ivan and Charlene (Orr) Fortner in Knoxville, Iowa. Loretta had one brother, Larry, and graduated Knoxville High School in 1949.

She married John Hendricks on May 18, 1952. To this union, two children were born, Randy and Cindy. Loretta and John lived in Huxley for 61 years.

Loretta enjoyed playing cards with her friends, going to Rathbun Country Music Theater near Centerville for an evening of entertainment, and eating out. Loretta moved to Des Moines in 1949 and worked for Bell Telephone.

She was a faithful wife and mother. She worked for many years alongside her husband at Hendricks Insurance, now known as General Insurance. Loretta took great care of her family which was her top priority. In 2012, they moved to Windsor Oaks Senior Living in Ames where there was much entertainment.

Loretta died at 83 years of age on March 26, 2015 from lifelong heart complications at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Loretta is survived by her children, Randy Hendricks and Cindy Bourke; three grandchildren, Mackenzie, Mollie and Anna Bourke; and her brother, Larry Fortner and nephew, Andy Fortner.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; and an infant granddaughter, Elizabeth Bourke.
