Harold Elliott Rowland, son of Logan and Mary Rowland was born Jan. 6 1916 in Marion County and was killed in a car accident Jun. 2, four days before his 44th birthday.

He was united in marriage to Doris Hopkin on Aug. 10 1938.
To this union were born two girls and two boys Mrs. Darnell (Bernice) Leadem of Des Moines and Carl, Gene and Ellen at home in Des Moines.

Mr. Rowland lived in Marion County until 1945 , at which time he and his family moved to Des Moines, where he has been employed at Firestone Co. for several years.

He was a graduate of Knoxville High School and while living in Marion County he became a member of the Christian Church at Dallas and later, after moving to Des Moines, he transferred his membership to the Highland Park Presbyterian Church. He was an active member in Boy Scout work for many years.

Besides his immediate family he is survived by one grandson, Kevin Leedom, aunts, uncles and cousins.

His parents preceded him in death in 1954.

Funeral services were held Jan 5, in the Methodist church at Melcher by the Rev. Azel Smith of Osceola. Interment was in the Dallas Cemetery.
