Services for W. Gordon Maddy, of Morrison, Ill. and formerly of Knoxville, who died March 22, 1985
from injuries sustained in a car accident near Fulton, Ill. on that date; were held March 26 at the First Reformed Church with Dr. Dan C. Johnson, officiating.

Interment was in Sheffield Cemetery, Sheffield, Ill. Pallbearers were Roger Frank, Bill VanDeVelde, Jon Wolfe, Richard Kunkel, Henry Kramer, and Dr. Eugene Judge.

Mr. Maddy was born on Feb. 9, 1920 in Knoxville, the son of Walter H. and Jennie Smith Maddy, and was a graduate of Knoxville High School.

On Feb. 9, 1941, he married Leda Askren.

He was president of Agri King, Inc. of Fulton Ill. a livestock feed consulting and sales company. He was on the boards of Jane Lamb Health Center, the YWCA, and Mount St, Clare College, was a member of the Illinois Forage and Grassland Council, and an avid horseman, owning Maddy Quarter Horses, Morrison, Ill.

He was a member of the Sheffield, Ill. United Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1983; one son, Larry; his parents; and two brothers, Harold and Howard.

He is survived by six daughters, Rebecca Maddy of Chicago, Viviat Kaufman and Alice Maddy, both of Peoria, Mrs. Lee (Barbara) Carper of Princeton, Mrs. Mert (Mary) Newman of Kewanee, and Mrs. Kent (Clara) Cook of Rock Falls; five sons, Wayne and John, both of Clinton, Dale of Maquoketa, Paul of Morrison, and Harold of Fulton; 13 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Marvin of Albuquerque, N. M.; and five sisters, Mrs. Paul (Wanda) Olmutz of Canton, Mrs. Harold (Marlene) Naylor of Des Moines, Cleo Dooley of Zion, Wilma Condra of St. Paul, and Mrs. Louie (Maxine) Zoutte of Knoxville.

A memorial has been established to the Spinal cord Research Foundation.
