Ethel Marline (Harvey) Loomis was born in Slater; Story County, Iowa on Wednesday; November 26, 1924. She was one of ten children born to Florence Eleanor Jury and John Clement Harvey.

Ethel grew up and attended school in Knoxville; Marion County, Iowa. Ethel worked as a cook at the Marion County Care Facility and the VA Medical Center for several years. She not only cooked as an occupation but also enjoyed making various baked goods for friends and family.

Ethel loved to listen to country music. She knew artists names and their songs. One of the highlights of her traveling was attending the Grand Old Opry in Nashville; Davidson County, Tennessee with a backstage pass.

Ethel enjoyed doing things with her family. She frequently traveled with her sisters or children to Las Vegas, California or Virginia to visit other relatives or just for fun.

Ethel Marline (Harvey) Loomis, age 82, passed away on Tuesday; June 12, 2007 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines; Polk County, Iowa.

Those left to mourn her passing are: Her four children: Jerry (Charlene) Koonce of Seminole; Pinellas County, Florida. Rex Gene (Beckie) Koonce of Indianola; Polk County, Iowa. Judy (Ed) Hines of Springfield; Greene County, Missouri and John (Judy) Koonce of Charlotte; Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Twelve grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, five sisters and one grandchild. May they rest in peace.

Funeral services were held on Friday; June 15, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home in Knoxville, Iowa with Pastor Terry Banker officiating.
