Funeral services for Dennis John Jones, 50, of Knoxville, who died Thursday, March 27, 2003 at his home, were held Monday, March 31, at the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville.

Rev. Kathy Sides officiated at the services. Interment was
at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Casketbearers were Ron Jones, Mike Jones, Steve
Jones, Brian Brooks, Brent South, and Steve Vander Ecken. Honorary bearers were
Greg Buban, Bill Campbell, Eric Dennison, Jeff Dickson, J.P. Morgan, Richard Randol,
and Dwight Sommar.

Dennis was born on May 11, 1952, in Knoxville, the son of Leonard
Jones and Frances (Jenkins) Jones. He was raised in Knoxville and graduated with
the Class of 1970. He worked at Pella Corp. for several years before going to work
as a letter carrier for the Post Office in July of 1978. He enjoyed his job, especially
visiting with all the people on his route.

On March 20, 1994, he married Tanya South
in Knoxville. The couple enjoyed traveling and attending nieces’ and nephews’ athletic
events. Dennis was also a Hawkeye fan and he loved sprint car racing, particularly
Sammy Swindell.

The most important thing in his life was family; he loved family
events and celebrations, especially when there was a good spread. Dennis was a good-natured
people person, he took great pleasure in visiting and kidding around with family
and friends and he will be greatly missed by everyone whose life he touched. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John J. Jones and Tressa (Shilling) Jones
and Frank F. Jenkins, Sr. and Lois (Overton) Jenkins.

He is survived by his wife,
Tanya; parents, Leonard and Frances Jones; sister, Carolan Brooks and husband Charlie;
three brothers, Ron, Mike, and wife Lisa, and Steve and wife Carolyn all of Knoxville;
his nieces and nephews, Brian Brooks of North Liberty, Heidi Brooks of Knoxville,
Jessica, Josh, Sarah, and Eric Jones all of Knoxville; Shane and Seth Jones of Muscatine;
Pete and Cali Collins and Breanne and Delaynee South all of Knoxville; brother and
sister-in-law, Brent and Dana South; mother and father-in-law, Sue and Eldon South
and many other family members and friends.
