Charles Nichols 83, died Thursday, July 5, 2007 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, IA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2007 at Hamilton.

Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville, Iowa.

Charles was born November 5, 1923 to Clarence and Nellie Nichols in Dallas, Iowa.

He served in the Army Air Corp as a member of the 561st Air Force Base Unit during WWII. In 1995, he received Medals of Freedom from Russian President Boris Yeltsin Charles retired from Merchant's Transfer in the 1980's. He was a member of VFW Post 738, AMVETS Post 2, Eighth Air Force and Teamsters Retiree Chapter 147.

Charles is survived by his sister, Hazel Easter; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.
