A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Bernice Mary (Wren) Conway, 91, of Knoxville, who
died April 11, at her home, was held April 17, 1995 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church
in Knoxville. Readers were Jeff Conway and Tom Stahowick.

A Scripture Service was
held April 14 at Bybee and Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville. Burial was at St. Anthony’s
Cemetery in Knoxville. The Rev. Charles Fladung officiated at the services. Music
was provided by Mary StuIts, organist, and Nancy VanDeBoe, and Laura Pastore, soloists.
Her grandsons served as pallbearers.

Bernice was born July 20,
1903, in Knoxville, the daughter of William and May Stickle Wren. She graduated
from Knoxville High School in 1922, and attended business college in Peoria, Ill.
She worked as a bookkeeper for several years.

She was united in marriage to Harry
James Conway on February 1, 1927. The couple farmed near Plesantville, then south
of Knoxville. Following the death of her husband in 1970, she moved to Knoxville.
She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, and the Altar and Rosary Society,
and an active member of the Progressive Garden Club.

She was preceded in death
by her parents; her husband, Harry; and one brother, Tom Wren. She is survived by
a daughter, Mary Stahovvick of Des Moines; two sons, Dr. Robert Conway, and Joseph
Conway, both of Knoxville; two sisters, Florence Ewart of Des Moines, and Agnes
Stittsworth of Knoxville; 10 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Memorials
may be made to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
