Services for Asbrene Ellen Oartweig, 75, Maxwell and formerly of Knoxville, who died on Nov. 9, 1993, in Corpus Christi, Texas, were Nov. 12, 1993, at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter.

Burial was at the Restland Cemetery in Baxter. Both she and husband Harlan died (in December of 1993) as a result of injuries in a fire recently.
The Rev. Charles Holmgren of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter officiated at the ceremony.

Asbrene was born on Sept. 23, 1918, in Marion County, the daughter of William and Mossie Brady Caukins.

In 1938, she was married to Harlan Oartweig in Davenport.
Asbrene was raised in Knoxville and attended Knoxville Schools. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, one brother; and five sisters.

Survivors include her husband of Maxwell; two daughters, Mary Coate of Maxwell and Marie Young of Chelan, Wash.; one son, William Oartweig of Newton; and eight grandchildren.

The Boyd-Davis Funeral Home in Baxter was in charge of the arrangements.
