Graveside services for Alice Jane Nichols, 73, of Newton, who died
June 1, 1924, at the Newton Health Care Center, were held June 5, 1997, at Chariton Cemetery in Chariton.

The Rev. Al Kincade officiated at the services.

Alice was born February 23, 1924, in Mt. Ayr, the daughter of William Alvin and Josephine Etta Flanders Billingsley.
She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1942.

She was united in marriage to Lloyd F. Nichols Sr., on September 28, 1943, in Knoxville. She was employed by the State of Iowa in the Department of Human Services. She retired in 1986. She was a former long-time Prairie City resident.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, William Dean Billingsley, James Edward Billingsley and an infant brother. She is survived by a son, Lloyd F. Nichols Jr., of Anamosa and two grandchildren.

Arrangements were made by Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in
Prairie City.
