Chasen Stevenson11/28/2018
Chasen Richard Stevenson was born July 2, 1987 in Des Moines, Iowa the son of Richard D. and Tamra (Hunter) Stevenson.

He was raised on the family farm south of Knoxville and graduated from Knoxville High School with the Class of 2006. During high school, Chasen began to hone his leadership skills with involvement in Marion County 4-H and the Knoxville FFA serving two terms as president.

Chasen then attended Iowa State University, graduating in 2010 with a degree in Ag Studies. He returned to Knoxville and began farming with his dad and brother. On July 28, 2012 Chasen was united in marriage to Justine Hosch at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa. They settled as the fifth generation owners of a family farm west of Knoxville. A few years later they welcomed their son, Nolan into the world.

Chasen loved farming and strived to be a good steward of the land. His passion for agriculture and political causes charged him to become involved in various organizations, but most of his efforts were recognized by the Iowa Farm Bureau.

From 2013-2016, Chasen and Justine served as the District 8 Representatives for the IFBF Young Farmer Advisory Committee, Chasen also participated on the state’s Resolutions Committee and held several offices of the Marion County Farm Bureau. Chasen was elected President of the state Young Farmer’s Advisory Committee in 2015.

In his spare time, Chasen enjoyed attending country music concerts, watching Cyclone sporting events, and traveling. Highlights included Farm Bureau trips across the country and snow skiing trips out west. He was very well read on current events, especially politics, sports, markets, and farming technology. His greatest joy in life was being with his family, especially his wife, son, parents and siblings.

Chasen passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at his home at the age of 31 years after a courageous battle with cancer. Chasen was diagnosed in March of 2017, his strength to battle came from the love and support of his family, friends, members of the community, and his faith in God.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gene and Helen Stevenson and Robert B. Hunter, and aunt Barb Dykstra.

Those left to cherish Chasen’s memory include his wife, Justine; son, Nolan; parents, Rick and Tamra; brother, Kirn (Ashlee) Stevenson and their daughter, Harper all of Knoxville; sister, Lacy Stevenson of New York City; grandmother, Donna Hunter of Chariton and many other family members and friends.
